Energy Minister: Renewable energy storage reduces costs for the electricity sector

The Parliamentary Energy and Mineral Resources Committee discussed, during its meeting, the first of Monday, the upcoming plan of the Ministry of Energy and review of the report of the Chase Company on the causes of power outages in the Kingdom last May. The head of the Parliamentary Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, Lawyer Zaid Al-Atoum, stressed during the meeting in the presence of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, that there is an urgent need to rearrange the energy file, as it is a major factor affecting other sectors, and thus will directly reflect on the growth and prosperity of the national economy. He pointed out the need for the ministry to have a clear strategy to correct the reality of the energy sector in Jordan, especially since most productive sectors depend on it completely, pointing out that the energy strategy lacks a solid implementation plan, in addition to the contradiction of government decisions with the strategy. In turn, the attendees stressed the importance of including a package of mitigating measures for the citizen within the ministry's next plan, and working to find alternative plans to ensure the growth of the Jordanian economy by supporting all vital sectors.
