Power Loads Back of High Record

The electrical system declined in yesterday for the highest levels recorded during the last week, according to director of planning and operating in the national electricity company engineer Amin Zugul.

loads dropped yesterday to 2320 MW were registered on the day before yesterday 2350 MW, while the load exceeded a record level during the past week due to rising temperatures, touching the maximum load of 2475 MW electrical system.

With regard to electric power link from states Zugul said that it was imported small quantities yesterday did not exceed 100 megawatts of Egypt, and stressed that importation came for economic reasons and not for a lack of generating capacity.

He explained the economic reasons the fact that this energy is less expensive than generated by obstetric units operating using diesel, indicating that these units is not running on the adequacy of the Kingdom"s needs and that he resorted to in times of peak electrical loads increase due to the high cost of fuel.

The rate of daily import of electric power went last week to 200 MW due to the sharp rise that occurred on the overhead electrical system as part of the Arab electricity linkage project.

The Kingdom involves with Egypt, Syria, in the electric link project, which includes eight of Egypt, Syria, Libya, Palestine, Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq. And generate energy locally by each of the Central Electricity generation companies and stations Samra Generating Company, which sells the national electricity company to be distributed later to consumers through the Jordan Electricity Company and the distribution of the central power.

It is generating approximately 80% of electric power by using natural gas imported from Egypt via the Arab gas pipeline at a compromise.
