Operating Losses Due to the Collapse of the Towers in Electric Transmission Network.
The General Director of NEPCO, Dr. Ghaleb AL Maabrah said that operating losses resulting from the collapse of the towers at the main transmission network in the twenty-fifth of last month amounted to 4 million dinars at a rate of half a million dinars a day.
He said in a press statement Monday that the temporary towers will arrive within two days from Romania and will be installed within five days so they can be re-connect the circuit and one of the transmission Two Circuits line Aqaba - Amman, where will it be possible to link more electric power out of the Aqaba Thermal Station and the line linking the Egyptian.
AL Maabrah said that after the operation of the circuit which is expected in about a week there will be no power cuts, especially with the weather remains moderate, noting that if the increased electrical loads on the level of 2250 MW in the coming days if bad weather occurred during the installation there will be interruptions limited owing to the delayed operation of the circuit under these circumstances.
The programmed Blackouts began after the collapse of the towers in the main transmission network at 400 KV in the Husseinieh / Ma"an and are responsible for transmitting electricity from the Aqaba thermal power station to the central and northern of the Kingdom result of weather conditions and strong winds have hit the kingdom and wind speed exceeded 120 KM per hour.
The company"s future plans were and still contain the expansion in building power stations that would compensate for the substations retired from work due to the end of its operational life, where the approach that continues to compensate for any amount of electricity generated by the old stations have ceased work, and meet the high demand for electricity in the future because of the economic boom and expansion of investment and population growth continue to mount.
In another sign, AL Maabrah expected the end for company (K & M) American, technical advisor and financial and legal framework for electricity generation project for a third preliminary studies in March and the preparation of tender documents for the project in May so they can be tender for companies and investors interested in the second half, mostly of this year.
